Road Bikes Available to You When Purchasing One for the First Time

Cycling offers a range of benefits irrespective of your gender. Firstly, this is a great form of exercise since it helps with increased cardiovascular performance, improved muscle strength, better posture, enhanced joint mobility and so much more. Secondly, cycling provides you with an opportunity to get to know your neighbourhood better and a chance to meet like-minded fitness enthusiasts in the process. But if you are looking to take up this sport, the first thing that you need to do is purchase the best road bike to suit your individual needs.

A common mistake that people new to cycling make is thinking that they simply need to walk into their local bike store and buy one that fits within their budget, but finances are just a small part of narrowing down your options. To help you make an informed choice, check out the following road bikes that will be available to you when purchasing one for the first time.

Endurance bikes

Also referred to as sportive road bikes, the endurance variety of road bikes are designed for long-distance cycling. As such, their design is characterised by features that you would not commonly find in the average road bike. To begin with, endurance road bikes provide for an upright riding position, which is more comfortable than being bent low for enhanced aero dynamism.

Moreover, the endurance bikes have wider tyres than their counterparts do, and these work to provide a smoother ride, and this allows the cyclist to ride for longer distances comfortably than if they were on thinner tyres. Take note, though, that while endurance bikes are great for cyclists that prioritise comfort, they are not ideal if you are venturing into cycling to satiate your need for speed. Nonetheless, they are a great option for entry-level cyclists.

Aero bikes

If you like to get your adrenaline pumping and are looking to get into cycling so that you can satisfy your need for speed, an aero road bike would be right up your alley. As their name implies, these road bikes are designed to maximise speed by not going against the wind. For instance, these road bikes are characterised by wing-shaped wheels that function to keep drag at the lowest possible amount and this makes the bike faster than its counterparts.

Furthermore, you will notice that the various systems that make up the bike such as the brakes, cables and so on are incorporated in such a way that they stay out of the wind, which limits the resistance of the bike. It is important to note, though, the aero road bikes are designed for aggressive riding so while this makes them perfect for speed, they may not be ideal for beginner cyclists.
